Financial Distress Shouldn’t Make You A Loser

As I was reading the news about this dude in LA who shot his wife & 5 kids then took his own life, just because he was deep into debts and got fired from his job, a thought crossed my mind “what kind of loser is this?” Yeah that sounds like a big loser. He didn’t have the courage to fight for his family like every other man, but instead he gave up with a violent act.

But then I thought about it, he ain’t no loser! First of all, it’s about debts and no job, so? Millions of other Americans share the same situation, are they all losers? No…! Secondly, he owes the IRS about $15,000, that certainly disqualifies him as a loser. Why? Because that means he got lots of money in forms of taxable incomes and didn’t pay his share of taxes; or, because he was arrogant enough to not file his taxes and thereby got penalties. Either way, he’s not a loser, because there’s no such thing as an “arrogant loser”!

I believe a loser is made of bad lucks, not bad decisions and intentional wrong-doings. For example, you’re born in a poor family, or you lose a contest that carries little chance to win, or something as a result of a series of bad lucks. When you go out stealing or killing and go to jail, that’s no bad luck. Therefore you’re not a loser.

Anyway, does it make sense? Or am I nuts?
